Polymers are large molecules that are made up of many smaller molecules. Nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins are all large molecules (polymers) made up of smaller molecules. Sort of like how a Lego Millennium Falcon is made up of many smaller Lego pieces.
The animated chart below is helpful for remembering which type of monomers make up which type of polymers.
